Purpose: The purpose of this course is to train up new technicians and catch up technicians who haven’t studied the necessary company policies to understand and be able to apply basic safety procedures and use proper safety equipment while on the job. End Product:

By the end of this course, you will understand how to keep yourself and others safe in the company and prevent accidents, injuries and more. How it is Done:

  • A “checksheet” is a series of steps, done one by one, to achieve a final product in learning. As you go through the course, you will mark off each step as done.
  • For each “Lesson” step, you are to simply read the policy, directive, or bulletin in the assignment. If any have a * next to the assignment, there will be a short quiz to ensure you understand what you just read.
  • Any “Practical” or “Drill” sections will have explanations on certain things you can do to help you learn more about what you just read and will prove you can apply what you learned. You will not be able to move onto the next step without submitting a picture or video of the assignment.
  • Sometimes there will also be “Sketch” steps. On each one of those, you will need to do a sketch either on your computer or notebook and upload the photo so it can be reviewed. You will not be able to continue on the course until your sketch has been approved by the Training Department.
  • “Essay” steps should be turned in the same as sketches. They should not be “short cut.” Be sure to really think about what the essay is for, and describe what is being asked for to the best of your ability.
  • At the end of the course there will be a simple quiz to test your knowledge. Your progress in learning will also be viewed by how you perform on the job.

You are allotted 30 minutes of paid study time 5 days a week for studying this course and related materials. Be sure to add this to your time cards as you study.
